I used to talk a lot more. Talk a lot more nonsense. Sometimes I would respond to someone without even thinking too much. The words just came out.
We’ve all had times where we speak too quickly when we are emotional. Saying something you didn’t mean to say, just speaking out of anger. Saying something we wish we could take back.
My husband has always been the kind of person who chooses his world’s carefully. Sometimes he talks super slow and I get impatient and try to finish his sentences.
I’ve been working on being more mindful with my choice of words. I’ve realized I’m much more quiet in social situations. Instead of talking just to talk, I try to think about what I’m going to say before I say it. This type of mindful talking may provide opportunity to use words we seldom use, helping us to expand our vocabulary. And, it helps us to express ourselves more accurately.
This is going to be my focus this week in my journey to live a more mindful life.
